Hi, I'm Ben — a photographer based in Chicago.
My interest in photography began when my late uncle, who was a photographer, left me one of his many Nikon DSLRs and a handful of basic lenses. What started as a camera to experiment with quickly became a fascination with the science of photography. I became enamored with learning how light, shutter speed, aperture, lenses, and all the little decisions behind the camera could shape an image.
That curiosity eventually led me to 35mm film photography. I invested in a Nikon F80 and a 50mm prime lens and began shooting film exclusively while traveling. Film gave me a reason to spend less time looking at screens and more time actually living in the moment — while still coming home with something tangible to remember it by.
Lately, I've been spending more time mastering my Nikon DSLR cameras and lenses. I especially love photographing family portraits outdoors, creating natural images and keepsakes that help make a moment in time last forever.
Photography started with a camera I inherited from someone I loved, and has grown into something I love doing in my own way.
